Tubular microfilters are capable of handling high solid concentration. The membranes have Porus polymeric tubes, to produce a nominal bore size of 0. 1 Micron.
It filters waste water upto 1.0 micron and 3.0 SDI, which is perfectly suitable for RO feed water. Consequently, it eliminates the need of pretreatment equipments like - tube settler /clarifier, sand filter, bag /cartridge filters.
The higher cost is justified by capex and opex of above equipment and the floor space. Its rugged texture permits use of several chemicals and yet has a life expectancy of about 7 years.
